The map.
I talk a lot about setting when I talk about my writing, because it's foundational to how I approach a story. I couldn't conceive of Father Bell without knowing St. Margaret's and Weston; I couldn't write Embry and Ash falling in love without the mountains and Prague.
And there's no way I could have written this kinky, gothic quartet without knowing Thornchapel and everything around it. Not just the manor house, but the woods and the river and the moors. The maze and the thorn chapel and the walled garden. All of it matters to our characters, all of it matters to the story, because Thornchapel is a place unlike any other. Thornchapel is a place with sexy, bloody secrets.
Thornchapel is where the door waits. And now you can see it just like I see it in my head...
